I’m headed to the airport to pick up my girlfriend again, last time I saw her was about 6 weeks ago. She has moved back home to finish off school, so this should only be happening for about another 2 months, and we have only been doing this for about 4 months in total so far.
But its tough.
Skyping and facetime helps a lot, but of course it is not the same. I would move out there to follow her but there is simply no jobs in her town, and she will only be there for 6 months.
We have a pretty solid relationship, and I love her with all my heart, but that doesn’t mean that everything will be perfect. We are both trying really hard though and we know that we will still be together at the end of this time.
I want to know about other peoples experiences with long distance relationships. Did it work out for you? Do you have any tips to make it easier?

Happy to hear you guys are going through with the Long Distance. I did Long distance for about 4 or 5 years. My boyfriend lived in Europe. We were together a year and I had to move to the US a year later, so we decided to do it. It was the toughest thing I had to do. The emotions and things you go through are simply describable. If you both leave each other, i think those couple of Months are totally doable. Don’t give up, it will be worth it in the end! =)
Oh for tips the most important thing is communication. You mentioned using facetime and skype, so that is great! Make sure you share and tell each other everything as if you guys were living together or else you might feel disconnected in some way. You could also watch movies “together”- you know corny stuff like that =) Just keep the love and passion going!

Long distance is tough- just make every effort to talk and communicate.
Boyfriend and I are currently doing a long-distance relationship and have been for the past year and a half. We’ve been together a total of 8 years, so we know we’ll be together in the long haul. This is just a temporary situation while we both finish up grad school. Just as long as you keep in touch every day and make time for one another it should be fine, in my opinon =)
That sounds tough. Communication is definitely key. I know it’s old-school, but have you guys tried writing letters to each other and sending them in the mail? There’s just something really personal about getting a letter that was hand-written by the person you love… Best of luck to you guys!
