I personally don’t know of one blogger who is happy with the amount of views, comments, sales etc that their blog is generating.
We all want more.
WordPress currently has over 63 million blogs, and there are millions more on blogger and blogspot.
Most of these blogs get less than 1000 visitors per month, and to put it bluntly, are failures.
Some people are content with their little blog about their garden, or about their kids, only getting a few views every month, and I’m not picking on you, if that’s what you like that is fine. But most people want more out of their blog.
So what are you doing wrong?
Do you think that churning out lots of great content will generate traffic and sales?
Do you think someone will notice your talent and take your blog to the top?
Do you think that if you slave away writing a post or more a day, that your hard work and determination will just pay off by itself?
These kind of people are hard workers that aren’t looking for a handout but really expect their blog to take off.
So what’s going wrong?
You have to get the content that you create into the hands of people that are going to share it.
You probably already have great content, you have to work on getting the content you have into the hands of more people.
So what have you been doing to promote your content? Once you write a blog post do you put it on facebook, twitter, google+ or other social media? Then what?
Some people will say that they will put it out on social media a second time, because people might not have seen it the first time. Then they do nothing else, except go to write another blog post.
Sharing your content to your small social network is not active promotion. After you have done it once or twice, the odds are that the people that are interested will be following you, and you will alienate the people that aren’t interested. You will never build a blog (for business or personal) with a large readership using that method of promotion.
Okay, so what do I do then?
Here’s what you need to know:
The best (and easiest) way to get new readers to your blog, is to convince another, larger, blog to send readers your way.
How do you do that?
Here’s a quick tip: DON’T create another boring blog that copies someone else’s formula.
In order to get another blogger to send readers your way, you have to say something different to everyone else. Don’t create something the same as everyone else, that people just won’t care about.
What blends in gets ignored, what stands out gets noticed.
So here’s what to do: Figure out which sites you would like to be featured on, some big sites, and some smaller sites that you think would suit your blog’s direction, maybe make a list of 5 sites. Then direct your content towards a style that you think these websites would find interesting, intriguing and useful.
Remember you don’t want to be featured on sites that have similar content to yours, but you want to be on sites that have a similar readership to what you want for your site.
Leave me a comment telling me what the 5 sites you would like to be featured on, and let me know why you think these sites would help your blog.
